Caring, Friendly and Safe….

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a restful and fun holiday and I am looking forward in seeing everyone this Monday.

I usually would send out the weekly email via MyED BC , however it is down until Monday. Therefore the email to parents is being posted on both the PAC and school website.

Staffing updates: A reminder again about the few changes in staffing. Angela Isaac is now teaching full time at GHE and Danielle Verge will be Beth Miller’s new teaching partner. The new prep teacher on Monday and Tuesday is Emily Garlock and she will also be teaching prep on most Thursdays for Chris Matheson as Rose Mackenzie will be away every Thursday for the next few months to work on the Well Ahead initiative for the district. Chris Matheson will also be sending out a new prep schedule and LIF schedule shortly. Thanks everyone for your consideration and patience on the many changes the past few months.

Staff meeting: First staff meeting of 2016 is this coming Wednesday. We will be continuing further exploration of collaboration and what that entails. If you have any other further agenda items please forward to me by Tuesday, 3pm. Thanks!

Cross Country Skiing: Cross country skiing begins in earnest upon our return. Please check the schedule below and with your son or daughter’s teacher for their Cross Country skiing days.

Popcorn day this Tuesday – $1 a bag

Eagle Viewing – our Eagle viewing dates on the dike are coming up the following week on January 14th and 15th. Permission forms will be distributed this week so please keep an “eagle” eye out for those forms!

Curriculum Implementation days – I sent out a letter to parents from the district outlining the two Curriculum Implementation days on January 29th and March 7th. Please see the letter and revised calendar attached. Further to that I have provided a link to the ministry website and the new curriculum in which the Ministry of Education provides the rationale and timeline for the changes. I also will speak to the new curriculum at our next PAC meeting which is Wednesday, January 13th, 7:00 pm in the library.
