Caring, Kind, Friendly and Safe…

Dear Parents and Guardians,

School Goals for 2018-2019

If our school community contributes to an inclusive and powerful learning environment, then our students will feel an increased sense of belonging and engagement.

Students will develop as healthy individuals who contribute to the community by taking ownership of their actions and learning.

Terry Fox Assembly and Run

Thank you to Ms Verbeek and the Leadership students for a successful Terry Fox assembly and run.  The theme of the assembly was Perseverance.  If we raise over $399, Ms Cho and  Ms Hain will face the Ice Bucket Challenge L

Welcome BBQ

Mark the date in your calendar! The welcome BBQ is scheduled for Thurs, Sept 20th from 6 pm to 8 pm. The school will provide the hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers.  The families are asked to bring a side dish to share.  Everyone is welcome!  Please bring your own plates and utensils to reduce garbage.

PAC (Parent Advisory Council)

The PAC will be holding the first meeting on Monday, Sept 17th at 6 pm in the library. It is a great way to network with other parents and working with the staff.  There are number of volunteer opportunities from being a PAC executive member and numerous fundraising events. There will be baby-sitting available.  Everyone is welcome!

Babysitters Wanted for PAC meetings

If you have your certification and are able to babysit in the evenings when the PAC meetings are on, please see Ms Cho with your certificate. Our first PAC meeting is on the 17th at 6 pm.

The BOKS program will start next week on Tues and Thurs from 8 am to 8:50 am.  Fill out the consent form and come join in the fun activities.

School Photos

School photos will be taken on Monday and Tues. Make sure you look your best!

Scholastic Book Fair

Next week is Scholastic Book Fair.  You will have a chance to view and purchase all the latest titles.

First Clan meeting

The first Clan meeting is on next Fri.  The theme is Perseverance.

Bear Alert from District of Squamish

This note is to alert the schools in the area of Carson Place that the Discovery Trail at the Alternate Crossing Bridge/behind the Skate Park has been temporarily closed due to bear activity in the vicinity. There is a mother bear and her cubs feeding in the area, and the trail is being closed until further notice to avoid any conflict. The Skate Park hasn’t been closed, but those using the skate park should be aware and use caution. District Operations are installing barriers which will remain until the trail reopens. Signs have also been installed in the area. Thank you, and don’t hesitate to contact our Wildlife Coordinator with any questions – Meg Toom at mtoom@squamish.ca or 604-815-5066.

At school, if you hear 3 short bell sounds, that means that you walk (don’t run) back inside the building.
