Elf Workshop (Christmas Gift Sale) – Monday Dec 9

Students will have the opportunity to buy gifts for $1 each, for their immediate family, living in their household. We understand that family make-up is different for everyone. We ask that you set the expectation with your child so that they are not disappointed. Parents should send a maximum of $5, prior to the shopping event, to be collected by teachers. For example: If there are only 3 additional family member in your household, please only send $3.

Should there be additional gifts at the end of the day, students may have the opportunity to buy additional gifts at end of the shopping event. Cash for additional items will be collected at time of purchase. Please send a reusable bag with your child to take gifts home.  We will be accepting donation items up until Friday Dec 6. Items can be left in the office at the school.

Should you be interested in volunteering for the funnest day of the year, please contact Roz at roslynsemjanovs@gmail.com

Writing Day

Thank you to all the students, parents, relatives, friends and staff that made our SQE Writing Day a great success once again!  Thank you for bringing cheer and the spirit of community into our school.

French Book Fair

Thank you to all the parents and students who were able to stop by the Savoir French book sale!  We hope you found some engaging books.

Reading Link Challenge

The Reading Link Challenge is a province-wide program for the students in grades 4-6 that promotes the “sport of reading.”  In teams of six, children read and become familiar with a set of six selected books.  The program is run as a series of quiz/trivia challenges with winning teams advancing to higher levels of competition. At the first challenge level, teams within a school compete with each other answering questions about characters, plots and settings.  The winning team at each school then goes on to the next challenge level competing against other schools. Children learn about teamwork and how to read for retention.  Reading Link Challenge also promotes library usage and encourages children to develop a lifelong habit of reading for pleasure. Intermediate students who are interested in participating in the Reading Link Challenge need to hand in their completed application forms to the Library ASAP! The books will be distributed to the students at lunch on Monday. If you need a form, please come get one from the Library.

Five Book Challenge

Next week is the final week to complete the Library’s 5 book Challenge.  Read read read! All completed sheets need to be entered into the entry box by Dec. 6th.
