Caring, Kind, Friendly and Safe…

Dear Parents/Guardians,

***Literacy Week K/1 Story Night***

There will be a story night on Wednesday, January 22th from 6-6:45pm for Kindergarten and grade one students and their parents.  Come listen to some great stories in the Library. Don’t forget to wear your PJs!  Cookies and milk will be provided.

Literacy Week (Jan. 20th – 24th)

Literacy week is a great opportunity for our school and community to promote literacy and foster a life-long love of reading in our students.  Throughout the week students will take part in a school-wide Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.), engage in literacy activities and be visited by guest readers! We will be wrapping up Literacy Week by inviting all parents to come to SQE and read with their child/children on Friday January 24th from 9-9:30am in their classrooms. We hope to see you there!

Our next Library challenge is kicking off! Complete a Book Review sheet from the library for every book you read and submit it back to the Library to be entered. Tell us what you think of each book and give it a rating out of 5 stars! Each completed Book Review is an entry into a book draw. The Book Review Challenge will be ending on February 28th.

Dress Like a Character Day

Friday is Dress Like a Character Day.  Come to school dressed as your favorite book character.

A Book for Every Child Program

The questions were developed with input from partner groups, teachers and experts in educational measurement and special education. Starting on the 15th, the Gr. 4s, staff and parents will be asked to participate in the survey.  Parent survey information will be going home.

Missoula Children’s Theatre

The audition is open for Gr. 1 to 6 for “The Tortoise and The Hare” on Monday, January 13th from 3:00 to 5:00. If chosen for the play, the students may need to attend rehearsal from 3:00 to 7:30, Monday through Friday. They will also need to be available for performances on Saturday, January 18.
