What’s Happening at ESQE week of June 17th to 21st

Dear Families,

Staffing News

We welcome Ms Boersma for a primary class and Mr. Blundell as a Collaborative Support Teacher.  On the other hand, Ms Hoyrup is retiring at the end of June.  We thank her for her many years of service.  Lastly, Ms Hain will be heading to Valleycliffe Elementary School as the Principal.  We wish her luck. We will miss them both.

Primary Track Meet

We had a successful Primary Track Meet.  Thank you to Ms Miller, Ms Cranston and Ms Noaro for coaching.

PAC Staff Lunch

Thank you to the PAC for the wonderful staff luncheon.  We really appreciate your generosity.

Sports Day

Thank you to all staff for a great Sports Day.  Everyone had so much fun!

K orientation

The second Kindergarten Orientation is on Wed and Thurs at 5 to 6 pm.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

The school will be celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day on Fri, 21st. The students will be involved in classroom and school activities.  We invite all families for a picnic lunch at noon.  Please bring a blanket and a picnic lunch.  As well, we will be treated to a performance by some students from Cultural Journeys at 12:45 pm.  Thank you to staff, Mme Lapp, Ms Jaime and Ms Lydia for their leadership.

 Year End Assembly

We will be having a Year End assembly at 11 am on Tues, the 25th.  We will also be saying goodbye to our Gr. 6s.

Parent Appreciation Tea

The staff will be hosting a Parent Appreciation Tea for all parent volunteers on Thurs, Jun 27th at 9 am.  We appreciate all that you do for our school.  Thank you to Mme Regnier for organizing.

Report Cards and Early Dismissal

On Thurs, June 27th is the last day of school for the students.  The report cards will be distributed and there will be an early dismissal at 10 am.

Camp Latona

Thank you to Mme Lapp, Mme Garlock, Mme Paquette, Mr. Parker and parent volunteers for this wonderful experience for our students.  Everyone had a great time!

Squamish Search and Rescue

There will be presentations from the SAR on Tues for some of our classes.

Primary Track Meet

The Primary Track Meet is on Thurs afterschool.  Thank you to Ms Miller, Ms Cranston and Ms Noaro for coaching.

PAC Staff Lunch

Thank you to the PAC for the staff luncheon on Wed.  We really appreciate it.

Sports Day

The annual Sports Day is Friday.  Please wear your clan colors:   Eagles – Blue, Salmon – Red, Wolf – Green, Bear – Yellow.  Hot lunch will be served at noon.

Dear Families,

Bike to School Week – May 27 to 31
Thank you to all who participated in Bike to School Week. From Monday with 157 riders, by today, we had 196 riders!

Intermediate Track and Field
The season ended with the district meet. Thank you to Mr. Parker and other coaches.

Camp Latona
Camp Latona for our Gr. 5 & 6 students is on Mon to Thurs. Thank you to Mme Lapp, Mme Garlock, Mme Paquette, Mr. Parker and parent volunteers for this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Engineering in the Classroom
We are hosting UBC Engineers for STEM workshops. Engineering is about applying science to everyday life, connecting theories and practice.

Coding
The intermediate classes are learning to code with the HSSS mentors. Thank you to Mr. Verbeek and his students.

Popcorn Day
Monday is popcorn day. A loonie for a bag.

Crazy Hair Day
Friday is Crazy Hair day. Wear your hair funky.

Bike Rodeo
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Squamish for the Bike Rodeo.

Unity Assembly
Thank you to all the participants for the assembly. Thank you to Mme Lazar and Mr. Dion’s classes for organizing.

Bike to School Week – May 27 to 31
We are encouraging every student and staff member to ride to school. We will be tracking the number of riders each day. Talk to your family and friends and find a group of people that you can ride to school with. There will be draws for prizes for students who participate!

KLO Band and Choir
We welcome the KLO (Kelowna Land & Orchard) band and choir who will be coming to perform for us on Wed, May 29th at 9 am. The KLO Middle School is a Grades 7-9 French Immersion middle school located in the central part of Kelowna BC with an enrollment 870 students. For many years KLO Middle School has had a strong Band and Choir program with an enrollment between 250-300 band students each year. There will be 3 groups performing – the Honours Grade 8 Jazz Band, the Choir, and the Gr. 9 Band.

Class reviews
The class reviews are on Mon and Wed next week in order track learning this year and to plan for next year.

Kids in the Ditch
Students are reminded not to play in the ditch on Buckley Ave. It’s dangerous with all the cars.

Forest and Trail
A reminder that the students are not allowed in the forest or the trail during recess and lunch.
