Talent show

Thank you to all the performers at the Talent show.  We enjoyed the variety of talent at ESQE!

SD 48 Learning Forum

We are proud that our students represented our school at the SD 48 Learning Forum at WSS.  We were impressed with the amount of work that went into the Wildfire PBL.

Earthday Assembly

Thank you to Mme Regier and the Earth Kids who organized the Earth Day assembly.

Ditch on Buckley Road

Students are reminded not to play tag by the ditch on Buckley Road.  We don’t want anyone to get hurt by the traffic.  It is a dangerous area so please find somewhere else to play.

Celebration of Learning and Early Dismissal

On Wed, Apr 24th between 2:15 and 6:30, the school will be hosting our Celebration of Learning.  We welcome parents and caregivers to come out and see samples of student learning.  The students will be dismissed at 2 pm that day to accommodate the event.

Spirit Day and Read In

On Fri, Apr 26th, we are hosting the Spirit Day and Read In.  It’s Fancy Friday so dress up in your fanciest outfits.  As well, families are invited to read in the class with the children between 9 and 9:30 am.

 Primary Track and Field

The Primary track and field is starting on Fri, April 26th at lunch.  Thank you to Ms Miller, Ms Cranston and Ms Noaro for coaching.  Please see the attachment.

BC Lions FortisBC Energy Champions

BC Lions are coming on April 17th! The BC Lions FortisBC Energy Champions program is designed specifically for elementary school students to emphasize the importance of responsible energy practices.   Energy Champions helps inspire elementary school students to take an active interest in their environment. During the 45-minute interactive assembly, two BC Lions players discuss the positive choices youth can make to affect their environment.

Glee Club

The Glee Club will be performing for the seniors at 55 Activity Centre on April 17th in the afternoon.

New Kindergarten Orientation

The school will be hosting two Kindergarten orientation sessions for new Kindergarten children and parents.  Orientation #1 will be on May 1 or 6 in the morning.  The second orientation will on June 19 or 20 in the evening.  Letters have been sent home.

The Learning Survey for Gr. 4s, parents of Gr. 4s and staff is open until April 15th.

Welcome back everyone!  We hope that you had a wonderful Spring Break.

Talent show

Can you sing, dance or juggle? Can you tell jokes, play an instrument or cup stack?  Then, start practicing your act because the Talent show auditions are on Wed, Thurs and Friday this week at lunch in the gym. Sign up with Ms Cho if you want to audition. The shows will be on April 16 & 17.

Carlos del Junco

Carlos del Junco is a Cuban Canadian who started to play harmonica at age 14. He is an award-winning harmonica player who specializes in jazz and blues. We are fortunate to host a concert on Mon, Mar 11th at 2 pm.  Families are welcome to join us.  There will be CDs on sale for $20.

Multicultural Day

We are looking forward to celebrate our Multicultural Day on Tues, Mar 12th between 1 to 3 pm.  We are asking staff and students to wear traditional regalia if possible.  The finger foods can be dropped off at the office at any time before noon.  There will be cultural activities in the gym run by students and parents.  We thank the staff, students and families for participating.

Business Day

The intermediate students at SQE have created their very own businesses to fundraise for their end of year camping trip to Gambier Island. Come out to our Market Day on Thursday March 14th from 1-3:30pm in the gym. At the market you can find; treats of all kinds, blankets, games, art, photos, greeting cards, soap and much more. Come support our young entrepreneurs. They will be accepting cash only. Families are encouraged to join us.

Need some advice on great family friendly movies?  Looking for a good recommendation for educational apps for your child?  Do you just need some advice on how to talk to your kids about internet safety?  The non-profit website Common Sense Media is a great platform for parents get answers to all of these questions about media and many more.   Common Sense Media is a non-profit organization that provides education and advocacy to families to promote safe technology and media for children.
