Questions please contact Alli Redding – Ecole Squamish Elementary Public Health Nurse @ 604-892-4846 (call or text).

Literacy Week

We are looking forward to the ESQE Literacy Week during the 21st to 25th with the Family Literacy Night on the 23rd and Dress in Character Day on the 25th.

Missoula Children’s Theatre

École Squamish Elementary and the Parents’ Advisory Council is sponsoring the Missoula Children’s Theater Companies performance of ‘SNOW WHITE AND THE 7 DWARFS’ on Saturday, January 26, 2019. This is an exciting opportunity to experience simultaneously, the polished craft of professional theater and the refreshing, energetic talents and skills of our students.  Missoula Children’s Theater touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and make-up.

Auditions will be held in our school gymnasium at 3:15 PM on Monday, January 21st, 2019.  Approximately sixty of our students from Grade 1-6 will be cast in this production, which is designed with suitable parts for all age, skill and experience levels. No advance preparation is necessary.  Casting decisions will be made at the end of the audition day. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play so it is very important to prepare your child for this possibility.  If they need to “cut” any children, they will cut a minimum of 10 children.  For example, if 63 children are auditioning, they will need to cut 3 to make up the 60 actors.  Missoula Theatre would never cut only 3 children, they would cut 10 to be fair.  Therefore, PLEASE ONLY AUDITION IF YOU ARE COMMITTED TO DOING THE SHOW OTHERWISE SOME CHILDREN MAY BE UNNECESSARILY CUT. Attached is a handout which can help if any of your children do not get a part in the production.

The MCT tour directors will conduct rehearsals after school and early in the evening throughout the week ofJanuary 21st, 2019.  Those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals for their role.

Caring, Kind, Friendly and Safe…

Dear Families,

I can’t believe this is the last week of school! Time has flown by… Here is what the last week of school looks like before the Winter Break.

Interschool Floor Hockey

We finished the season with two wins and a loss at the Jamboree.  Congratulations to all the players.  Thank you to Coach Vanessa.

Community Christmas Care, Salvation Army and the Squamish Nation donations

Last day for collection (toys, items for the homeless) is on Mon.  Thank you to all who donated.  We appreciate your generosity.

Winter Concert

Thank you to all staff and students who worked so hard to prepare for the Winter Concert.  We had a marvelous time hosting Holly Arntzen and Kevin Wright.  Thank you to Heather Feeney for introducing us to Voices of Nature and Ms McPhee for the all the work on practices.

Dressing for the Weather

Just a reminder to please have the students dress appropriately for the weather as it is getting colder.  We want to see them bundled up for outside play.

Families in Parking Lot

Please take care to not block the parking area for the buses.  Also, please do not park on the grass area since we don’t want the grass being destroyed.  We are noticing a lot of congestion. If there is no parking spot, please park at Nester’s mall or Save On Foods mall. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and patience.

Missoula Theatre

Missoula Theatre is coming to Ecole Squamish Elementary from January 21st to 27th.
