Ah! It feels good to be in our classes and have the kindergarten students here as well. Although we have a little bit more staffing to complete, we are off to a great start.
Our first newsletter will be sent home in hard copy this week, but you can see it here, under Newsletters. We are also sending home some other forms for you to fill in and return. Thank you in advance for that.
This Friday is our annual Terry Fox Run. We are going to run it as a circuit. Thanks to Madam Verbeek for organizing. Please join us if you can at 2 pm.
School starts on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. Students will attend for one hour, from 9:00 – 10:00 am, except for new Kindergarten students. We will be having a Welcome Assembly at 9:30 and parents are welcome to attend.
If your child plans to attend our school but you are NOT able to come on the first day, please let us know so we can keep you in our numbers.
New Kindergarten students have been sent information via post and email. If, for some reason, you have not recieved this information, please call us!
Returning students will go to last year’s classroom for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, students will be assigned their teacher(s) for the 2013 – 2014 school year.
Students in grades 1- 7 who are new to the school will meet in the gym and after the bell, will be taken to a class of their peers. You might be nervous! Don’t worry. We are a very friendly school!
School supply lists are posted under Things You Need to Know.
Parking Lot Etiquette at Squamish Elementary School
It is important that we all follow these guidelines for student safety and to show courtesy and respect for one another.
- Use the drop off circle for morning drop off only – no parking or idling at any time of day.
- Only park in the handicapped spots if you have a valid pass
- Keep the bus lane for busses only – parents and children cross this bus lane to the parking lot
- Respect the yellow curbs as “no parking” areas – for pedestrian safety
Plan ahead for how you will drop off and meet your child after school. We have a crossing guard on Buckley Avenue in the morning and after school.
Thank you in advance for helping to keep our parking lot and lanes safe and uncongested.
